Are you planning a road trip this summer? If so, here are some tips on how to stay organized while on the road.
First, decide what vehicle you will use for the trip. Think about how many passengers there will be and suitcases. Once you know which vehicle you will be using be sure and check the tires and fluid level and have a roadside emergency kit.
Next, check a map and plan out stops. Make reservations if you will need to make an overnight stop. If you are staying overnight, consider packing everything for overnight in one suitcase so that you will not have to open and dig through everything for the trip. As you look at the map, also think about gas and food stops along the way. If you do not want to stop for fast food you will need to plan for the trip to be longer with sit down restaurants or you will need to plan ahead with meals in the car.
If you are traveling with kids you will need to think about snacks and activities to keep them occupied. One way to do that is by putting together coloring kits like Corey from Family Fresh Meals has here.
Some other tech-free options (that don’t need special equipment or batteries) are I Spy, Apples to Apples, or 20 questions. I remember when I was little my family would count the number of Orange Schneider trucks that we would see.
Need a way to make art supplies and snacks easy to reach? You could repurpose a Remote Control Caddy or fill a shower caddy like Kierste from Simple Kierste has here.
For some easy to grab and go snacks you can use clear, zippered bags like Sam does over at Simply Organized.
So, now that you have a plan and everything organized doesn’t necessarily mean the road trip will go as planned, but at least it should go a little more smoothly. Safe travels!
